Born in Stuttgart, West Germany, painter André Butzer specializes in semi-abstract paintings populated by cartoon-like elements. His work, often referred to as “Science Fiction-Expressionism,” explores the ambivalence of the comic genre and Neo-Expressionism. His oeuvre is influenced by the likes of Willem de Kooning and Phillip Guston. The Page Gallery will features some of the painter’s most recent works at the upcoming show.
