Kang Tae-hoon’s ‘Capacity and Border’ Jongmyo Jeryeak

Award-winning geomungo player Kang Tae-hoon aims to test his musical capability and push the limits for his upcoming performance at the Seoul Donhwamun Traditional Theater, under the theme “Capacity and Border.” His repertoire will feature five scores, joined by five other traditional musicians whom each play haegeum, ajaeng and percussion instruments.

Sejong Art Center in Sejong City March 11

“Jongmyo Jeryeak” is the royal ancestral ritual performed at Jongmyo Shrine and its music since the 1392-1910 Joseon Dynasty. Composed by King Sejong himself, it was listed on the UNESCO’s Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity in 2001. The National Gugak Center is set to bring the solemn ceremony to life at the Sejong Art Center in Sejong City in March.
