KITA introduces 15 new board members

The Korea International Trade Association (KITA), led by Chairman Koo Ja-yeol, introduced its 31st board, which includes 15 new representatives from various sectors, Tuesday.

The export promotion body’s triennial 31st board held its first meeting in the Trade Tower in Samseong-dong, Seoul, where it discussed ways to cope with changes in the global supply system, affected by the trade conflict between the United States and China, on behalf of the trade industry.

“The board is formed by gathering representatives from the traditional manufacturing and future export industries, experienced and next-generation young managers, large companies, and small and medium-sized enterprises, as well as both metropolitan and rural trade industries,” Koo said. “KITA will take the lead in digital innovation and new export-oriented growth industries with a diverse and balanced perspective, while establishing a new direction for our trade by playing the role of a ‘linker.’”

KITA will further come up with solutions to respond effectively to the ongoing trend of digital innovation and the discovery of future export-oriented growth industries.

The new members include presidents from various fields, including: media (CJ ENM), games (Smilegate), food and beverage (Dongwon), electronics (INFAC Korea) and eco-friendly construction materials (Dongwha Group). General trading companies like LG International and GS Global have also joined KITA to cooperate in expanding mutual growth marketing

with local small and medium enterprises here.

Trade support agencies like the Export-Import Bank of Korea, the Korea Trade Insurance Corporation and the Korea SMEs and Startups Agency, as well as the Korea Import Association, the Women’s Business Association and the Venture Business Association, will take part in

KITA’s effort to promote the country’s international trade activities.

Other new members of KITA are: Samsung C&T CEO Koh Jung-suk, Vice President of Nexen Tire, Kang Ho-chan, Chairman of L&P Cosmetic, Kwon Oh-sub, Chairman of Aurora World, Noh Heui-yul and President of Iljin Group, Lee Dongseob.
